Have you ever heard of the quote,
"With great power comes responsibility".
Well this here quote is exactly what you should be thinking when your driving a car. When driving a car your driving a weapon. You drive too fast you can spin out. You look at our car while you drive you can hit a pedestrian walking across the road. You could even end up crashing into a brick wall if your driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Its the responsibility as the driver of the car to make sure you keep yourself, anyone in your car and everyone around you outside the vehicle to get home safely the end of every single day.
As young people we can forget and believe that we are indestructible, but are we really? The smallest mistake while driving could be you scratch your car, which we think is nothing. It is only a ding and it gives the car character, however what if it wasn't a small mistake and a scratch.
What if...
You are driving home from work, getting really excited to get ready for a night out with your boys or girls. Your taking all the back streets home because it is less traffic that way and you can drive a little faster because there not a lot of people around. Your jamming to your music. You hear a beep from your mobile phone. Your boy, just sent you a message asking what time you will be at his place. Your still driving, your eyes are only focusing on the road but you move 1 of your hands off the steering wheel in order to pick up your phone. You start messaging your boy back. Not realising that your about to come into a pedestrian crossing. As your eyes flick back to the road, it is too late this mother pushing her pram is already in the middle of the crossing. You try to slam on the brake but it's too late. Your car has hit the pram.
This whole scenario or 'accident' happen because the driver of the car wasn't paying any attention. Accidents happen in the blink of the eye, that is why it is so very very important that we pay so much attention to what it happening around us. As young people we care a lot of what our mates, best friends, family and community around us think. The worst thing that you do not want people thinking of you is a bad driver, a unsafe driver cause who would get into a car that you know might not becoming home with at the end of the trip. I wouldn't. Would you?
We as the driver have the responsibility to ensure that everyone gets home at the end of the day safe N sound.
